We may be a touch biased—we are talking about one of our favorite people here—but we think the homes that Dalton Condit builds with Domain Design/Build are some of the coolest modern dwellings our growing city has to offer.
Dalton founded Domain in the mid-2000’s, and he, along with his wife Jamie who lends her creative eye, have left their mark on just about every corner of Salt Lake City. Their latest corner, as it so happens, is that of Dalton Avenue in Glendale, an area that has been steadily growing in popularity, thanks to its proximity to both the Granary and Central 9th districts. It's a stunning new build that sees Dalton and his skilled team placing energy efficiency and striking lines at the top of the priority list.
In order to meet the aforementioned efficiency objective, you’ll find a few things beneath the surface, like thick foam panels around and underneath the house, which creates a thermal barrier. You'll also find a few details inside, such as energy efficient appliances and a dual zone HVAC system (don’t get him started on fireplaces). Their inspiration for the exterior was the juxtaposition between bold, black metal panels and warm cedar trim—it's a look that is as stunning as it is efficient and cost effective.
Inside, the space is open and flooded with natural light, polished concrete floors, a warm wood kitchen with crisp white countertops, and the kind of thoughtful details that make all the difference in a new build. Like our city itself, Domain's projects just keep getting better and better, and we can't wait to see what's next.
